Just come across this open access article by Holen et al about the 'student as partner' idea (with which the students as producer idea has something in common). It talks about different meanings of the concept and different ways of enacting it.

I think our own students have recently shown a willingness to engage in consumer-type partnership when they have actively looked for ways to shape the debate about assessment practices in the lockdown period.
Thinking on- it could be consumeristic if we convince students and employers of value of such activities
Just had a chance for a quick skim- looks very interesting review. I think the idea of requiring all education institutions to implement some form of student as producer would be popular with ugc- following on from their requirement for capstone courses- but still relatively new in Hong Kong . Of course that’s ok if you are following “a contra-narrative to a consumeristic approach to education” - not sure Hong Kong can abandon the “consumeristic” .
