Superheroes and the law: Introducing potential Law School applicants to the study of law
Legal issues are woven into everyday life. Often they do not fall neatly into just one legal category (contract law for example) but cross legal subject boundaries. It is helpful for lawyers to be sensitive to the range of possible legal issues that might be relevant in particular cases.
Professor Steven Gallagher developed a Superheroes and the Law course for pre-university summer school students. The students were asked to watch clips from superhero films and reflect on the legal issues that arose from the scenes they watched. Recent graduates helped Professor Gallagher design the course.
In this video, Dr. Emma Roberts of Chester Law School in the UK interviewed Professor Gallagher about the course, the thinking behind it and the lessons he learned from it.
